The cause of… and solution to… all of life’s problems.” Alcohol has played an astronomical influence on the world as we know it. Alcohol dates as far back as seven- thousand BCE. Throughout the history of the world, alcohol has been used for many different valuable or pleasurable things. Alcohol is very versatile. It can be used for bad or good. Alcohol has torn families apart and even brought them back together. Alcohol can be made many types of ways and from many different ingredients. Besides water, alcohol is the most influential drink in the world. The consumption of alcohol happened long before the human species even knew how to write. Alcohol can be contained in fermenting fruit in a form called ethanol. This means that the human species primitive ancestors consumed alcohol from the forest floor millions of years ago. Scientist say that even our primitive ancestors were smart enough to understand that alcohol had some kind of effect on the human body. The earliest proof of the creation of alcohol comes from northern China dating back to seven-thousand BCE. The evidence is residue in pottery jars from the brewing process. The first written evidence of the creation of alcohol comes from the Sumerians between three-thousand and two-thousand BCE. According to scientist from, “researchers have found nearly twenty beer recipes written down on clay tablets.” The Sumerians were also the first ones to put a consumption limit on alcohol. Pannell 2 was such as heavy influence in Sumerian culture that an epic name “Gilgamesh” was written. The epic talks about how a primitive man transformed into a cultured man after drinking several cups of alcohol. So many people believed this epic that alcoholism started taking over the Sumerians. That is what caused the consumption limits to start. Life of the Sumerians was filled with alcohol. Life in ancient Egypt was consumed with alcohol. The average diet of the ancient Egyptians was bread and beer. The ancient Egyptians believed that beer was the drink of the gods. The ancient Egyptians were taught that beer could be the cure to many illnesses. They believed that beer had many nutritional benefits. In certain places in ancient Egypt, the people believed in the benefits of beer so much that people were even paid wages with alcohol. Many scientist believe that alcoholism is the cause for these irrational beliefs. The ancient Egyptians were so addicted to alcohol they actually almost worshipped it in a sense.
