Madyson Woodburn Title: The Wife of Bath’s Tale Author: Geoffrey Chaucer Page That I Stopped: pp. 147 In the story, the question that the knight was trying to answer was ‘what do women most desire?’ In my opinion, what he said is completely right: “A woman wants the same self- sovereignty/Over her husband as her lover,/And master him; he must not be above her” (Chaucer 143). Women have a thirst for power because in the past, they were considered just house-sitters and baby-carriers for men. They were powerless! Women’s lack of power has led to a well- known movement called the Feminist Movement, which has turned out to be very successful. Women are defined as independent, strong, and able to do anything they set their minds to. But has the womens’ thirst for power completely destroy the essential qualities of chivalry upon a man and a woman? Also, has the womens’ and mens’ roles in society shift compared to the medieval times?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
