USES AND GRATIFICATIONS OF SPOTIFY 3 Uses and Gratifications of Spotify In today’s day and age, the use of media technology is rapidly increasing, and from constant usage, we as users obtain different forms of satisfaction from the use of a said form of media. "The tools offered by modern media have expanded the range and scope of our interactions with media content" (Sundar and Limperos, 2013), this quote expands on how advanced media content is today and how the tools different media sources provide have been introduced in order to meet the diverse needs that we as users have while using media. To further explain, Sundar and Limperos (2013) infer that our increased use of media might not be from the advanced improvements that have taken place in media through the years, but it is because of how media meets our socio-psychological needs (Sundar and Limperos 2013). This paper will focus on our everyday use of music media in relation to the widespread application Spotify and how we use music media as a way to connect to both our emotions and the emotions of others and to express deep mental and emotional feelings that we have or have had at various moments in our life's.
