Ethan Brown Period: 7 Class: AP Language and Composition Date: 8-16-2018 Their eyes were watching god Their eyes were watching god” Tells the story of how a black woman, named Janie Crawford, changes through her three marriages. At the beginning of the story, Janie Crawford is young and expects everything to be handed to her in life. As a young girl, her father died and her mother left her, leaving only her grandmother to take care of her. Her grandmother was the servant to a wealthy white family, and in result she was friends with many white children. Other black children made fun of her and would not associate with her because of her affiliation with the white children. In this essay, I will describe the events of the story in order. The theme in “Their eyes were watching god” was most likely that money isn't happiness, and to be grateful for the people that help you. At the beginning of the story, she is living with and married a man named Logan Killicks. Logan is a farmer who owns a large plantation. He is very kind to Janie and
