Brown Grade: 9 Date: 5-24-2017 Facts about the sun The sun is what is known as a sequence star; A star is called a sun if it is the center of a planetary system The sun is 15 million degrees celcius The sun is at the heart of the solar system The sun is 92,955,807 miles Venus Venus is the second planet from the sun, orbiting it every 224.7 Earth days It has the longest rotation period of any planet Most astronomers feel that it would be impossible for life to exist on venus. Today, Venus is a very hostile place Venus would not be a very pleasant place to live Venus was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty, Venus is the second largest terrestrial planet and sometimes referred to as Earth’s sister planet due to their similar size Venus’s atmosphere is made up almost entirely of carbon dioxide. This causes a greenhouse effect making venus extremely hot Venus is the second brightest natural object in the sky Venus is sometimes referred to as morning star and evening star Earth Earth is the third planet from the sun Earth is the largest terrestrial planet in our solar system It takes Earth 365.26 days to orbit around the sun The average temperature on Earth is 61 F
