Hist 2112, Dr. Montgomery Wolf Unit 3 Assignment: Thesis statement, outline, annotated bib Due: Tuesday, November 5 (by the start of class, via eLC dropbox) Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to help you prepare to write your final essay; you will do so by thinking about a possible thesis statement and subclaims and by continuing to gather and analyze sources. Skills: The purpose of this assignment is to help you practice the following skills that are essential to your success in this course and in professional life beyond school: o Interpret primary sources and assess their relevance. o Create an argument and support it with evidence Knowledge: This assignment will also help you to become familiar with important content knowledge in this discipline from 1865-1975. Task : First, choose a prompt. Second, review the primary sources and data sets we discussed or created as we studied baseball, movies, and television with an eye toward writing a research paper responding to one of the prompts below. Next, if you are including television, choose and annotate six new primary sources from Unit 3 to add to your bibliography (or a total of six primary sources, including 1- 2 from LOC or DPLA). Follow directions on annotations given with the Unit 2 assignment. Fourth, review the sources already in your annotated bibliography; add or delete primary sources from Units 1 and 2 as you narrow your focus. Fifth, craft a plausible thesis statement that makes a contestable claim and provides a roadmap for the paper.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
