Jonathan Velez IT Ethics 2/23/2019 FOIA The Freedom of Information Act gives us the citizens the right to have access to non-classified information from the federal government upon request and compensation. The information that is able to be access could at one point be classified but downgraded and can be released to the public as well. We have read about transparency and the ideal that is could be either a good or bad avenue. As we have read in the book The Circle, we see that transparency can lead to great outcomes and can also become a person’s worse nightmare. So, should we have a transparent government? In my opinion, if you don’t need to know you don’t need to know. I believe that when it comes to the government there are things that are better left behind closed doors and away from the public. The reason being is that if any and all information was open to the public at any given time it could potential be disinterest. A prime example would be when Osama Bin Laden mission was executed.
