Kelsey Brandt Christina Rogers AP Literature 14 November 2019 Feral Hogs The “Hog Apocalypse” may finally be starting according to Sid Miller, the Commissioner with the Texas Department of Agriculture. The killing of wild hogs has been a controversy for quite some time. Hogs have been killed from bullets shot out of helicopters, and poison that kills them slowly. In the poem “Bless the Feral Hogs,” the narrator speaks against this saying that hogs are not the problem, humans are. A poem, “Saint Francis and the Sow,” is alluded to in “Bless the Feral Hogs.” This allusion to “Saint Francis and the Sow” impacts the theme that people interfere with nature through the use of juxtaposition and symbolism in its poem. Sid Miller is all for the killing of feral hogs according to the narrator when they say “if he had his way, farmers will lure swine with poison feed so they slowly, painfully bleed as their innards bubble up blue . (Van Prooyen ,line 8-10) .

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
