Blue Eyes or Brown Eyes? Part 1 1. Explain how easily prejudice and discrimination can be learned – can be socialized - into a child via this video. What is the difference between prejudice and discrimination? Prejudice is your thoughts on a group but the thoughts are not acted on, discrimination is acting on those thoughts and treating that group differently. Prejudice and discrimination can be learned very easily especially with children. Once the children get the feeling they are superior, they treat the other group as inferior, stupid, and different than them. It can be socialized very quickly, because once the children see others treating the people from the other group poorly, they believe it is fine and then it becomes a bandwagon effect. They discriminate against the other group just because they see their peers doing it, and their parents or other adults doing it. 4. What role does the labeling theory play in self-empowerment according to the video? How did the negative and positive labels placed on a group become self-fulfilling prophecies?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
