Katelyn Song Weekly Reflection This week’s readings focused on child sexual abuse and elder abuse. The readings this week were really eye opening because it brought a lot of awareness to how the abuse affects both the elders and the children. The first reading I read was about the elder abuse and the challenges social workers face. This was eye opening because many times when discussing abuse, the focus is almost always on the victim or the perpetrator, never the social workers. After reading this article, I realized how social workers are impacted by their jobs. For many of the social workers, they could not help bringing their work into their personal lives. One discussed how she was constantly examining her relationship with her husband and the future potential abuse she may face. She states, as well as other social workers, that no one is immune to abuse and that it can always happen. It was surprising to read how they also became more skeptical and cautious.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
