Project Guidelines (Sem1, 2019/2020) Course Code: CS664 Course Title: Cyber Security Defense and Countermeasures Course Description: The Cyber Security Defense and Countermeasures course prepares students to defend enterprise networks and protect enterprise data assets from Web-based and internal attacks using techniques such as system hardening, encryption, policy enforcement, and software/hardware intrusion detection systems. The research project component of the course is the part where students will be exposed to research work and will be invited to edit their own research paper. You are requested to write review , survey or state-of-art paper within the domain of Cyber Security Defense and Countermeasures . You can choose your research paper topic within the following titles: Module 01: Vulnerabilities and Insider Threats Module 02: Hackers and Attackers Module 03: Security Planning and Policy Module 04: Risk and Governance Module 05: Cryptography Module 06: Secure Networks Module 07: Access Control Module 09: Firewalls Module 08: Networking Review Module 10: Host Hardening Module 11: Application Security Module 12: Data Protection Module 13: Incident Response Module 14: Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Research paper presentation 1

Guidelines: 1. Every group consist of max 2 students . 2. The papers listed as extra reading in the syllabus may represent a good starting point for paper selection. 3. Each group should send the title of their paper as well as a half-page- description (Abstract) of the subject by Week 9 . 4. The template of the article can be found in below pages. Your article must obey the template guidelines in precise manner. 5. Your article cannot go beyond 12 pages inclusive references. 6. At least, five of your references must to be from journal articles published in well publishers’ databases; IEEE , Springer , Elsevier , Wiley and Taylor & Francis . 7. Submission deadline is Week 13 ; by email to your respective SEU instructor. Submission must be done by Corresponding Author . Corresponding Author is one of group member work as a contact person with instructor. 8. Each group need to prepare presentation of maximum 15 slides describing the topic and the work of the group. 9. You will have a 15-20 mins presentation starting on Week 14 . The group presentation will be selected in random base.
