People of Organization 2 People of Organization Characteristics of an Effective Work Group Mullins, (2002) argued that for effective work groups, teamwork is important. This will enable a small business to overcome emerging challenges and conduct strategic tasks in the organization. Teams bring together the experience and knowledge of many employees together to successfully finish up an ongoing or short -term task. Teamwork is an art and a science itself; various teams perform very well together, but others might fall apart hindering their organizational progress. The elements of effective teamwork may assist to maintain and build teams of high-performance throughout the organization. Confidence and Creative Freedom According to Mullins, (2002), all members of a work group should be free to creatively think of new ideas and opportunities towards the organization. This is to fail while attempting on new things without any fear of effects or consequences. The members should trust that others will openly listen to their new ideas made so that they can communicate them openly and confidently. They should be trusted and be adaptable in their expertise area so that they can lead new initiatives and accommodate changes that bring about new ideas into realization. Capabilities Diversity According to Mullins, (2002), a work group which possesses professional competencies at a wide range might be fully capable to overcome many challenges. Every member should possess strengths and skills which complement strengths, weaknesses, and skills others. This

People of Organization 3 allows the members to have trust on one another for specific performance elements and understanding what they should contribute. Commitment and Trust A high-impact work group should be committed fully to achieve the organization’s goals and mission. Everyone should devote reasonable energy and time to advance the mission and should trust that everyone is doing exactly the same. Mistrust from workloads which are unbalanced leads to high performers backing off closing the gap within members’ outputs (Mullins, 2002). Open Lines of Communication Mullins, (2002) said that effective work groups should communicate openly. Communication should be honest flowing among the members equally. Work group members should understand one another agreeing on a single communication style from outset moving the team into a productive way which everybody supports and understands. They should never hesitate to communicate freely with others concerning new ideas and issues through personal observations. In busy bags company, the work group is more efficient. Every member agrees on what is required to be undertaken and by whom. Everyone then finds out what is needed of them to be done and be responsible to complete their task(s).
