HEALTHCARE AND NURSING 2 Ethical Issues of Confidentiality Jack Burns approached an emergency department at his hometown hospital due to dehydration and kidney problems. The healthcare arranged to admit him for tests. However, he was against the idea since he said he was allergic to hospitals. Later, he accepted after conversations with the doctor. He was accompanied by Cecilia Langer, a nurse, for admission since he appeared feeble. After being issued with the informed consent form, he was agitated, but Cecilia took him through the main points. He was admitted later at the renal unit. The following day, he was given another consent form for which he became furious about and asked for Cecilia. He explained that he was not contemplating what they wanted him to do. She explained to him the procedure he would undergo, after which he signed. When he was taken for testing by the professionals, he agitated terming the injection as poison. He was shown where it was stated on the consent form but later accepted. However, he complained that Cecilia did not explain to him accurately. The team wanted to postpone the test, but when Jack was consulted, he consented. Nevertheless, they approached Cecilia for her comment. She was disappointed and thought not to repeat the same for another patient. The ethical dilemma occurred when Jack complained that Cecilia did not guide him well through the informed consent form. Jack asserted that if he knew the actual scenario was what he was about to go through, he could not have signed the form. The professional team
