Week One Video Reflection The videos from this week showed me about the history of this Nation. The massacre of the Indians at Sand Creek seemed unnecessary seeing that they had the American flag and the white flag flying signifying peace. One man in the video stated that it was like the U.S. Army trampled on their own flag (The sand creek massacre: Seven hours that changed American history, 2006). I do not disagree with that statement. Living in Oklahoma I have heard people make comments about the white man and how they stole their land and there is still some resentment with some. I understand it more now that I have learned even more about the events that took place back then. Some of the Lakota Sioux people moved from the reservation and formed a community that was given a bad name in the 1970’s. It had improved some by 1999 when this video was made. They value family and try to help the youth in the community by teaching them about
