Running head: LAB 1 2 Introduction The purpose of conducting our study was to see if there’s a true correlation between how long it takes for people pulling out of parking lots based on if someone is waiting or not. Our hypothesis is that people take longer when they know someone else is waiting versus using the time to move faster out of courtesy. Territorial defense in parking lots: Retaliation against waiting drivers was a study conducted by R.B. Ruback and D. Juieng in which we are comparing our results to. They were the first to publically test this study by sitting in a parking lot and tracking those who were pulling out of parking lots and the time it was taking when people were waiting vs. people not waiting. There’s many things that also go into effect such as how many people are in the car, the sex of the person driving, if the person has multiple bags, or simply if they are in a rush to leave or not.
