Organizational change is defined as anything that requires the employees at a company to work in a different manner (Weiss, 2015). As a leader before you begin the change process you must understand why the change is required (Weiss, 2015). Using the Kotter’s change model can help the organizational change smoother as it follows eight steps that provide guidance through changes. The eight stages are creating urgency, form a powerful coalition, create vision for change, communicate the vision, empower action, create quick wins, build on change, and make it stick (Weiss, figure 12.3). I want to focus on three steps from each phase starting with creating the environment for change. In this phase the step I would look to is creating a vision for change. My organization is currently going through a realignment that is focused on merging two different departments. Myself and 3 of my peers are all leading the charge to get to the new structural goals. We recognized that many wouldn’t understand the need to change

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
