LEADERSHIP THEORIES 2 Introduction The concept of leadership entails numerous leadership theories that define leaders. It is imperative that leaders possess one or several leadership theories so that they can effectively match their leadership characteristics. Leadership theories enhance leaders with effective and transformational leadership traits, which subsequently enhance success in organizations. The Rotary Club of Chicago, where I work, envisions bringing together professionals with diverse backgrounds to mobilize meaningful ideas that impact the society. This paper will evaluate the leadership in my place of work and identify the theories that the organization leverages on. More so, the paper will also explore some concepts relating to leadership and its influence in this organization. A Leadership Theory A leader is an individual who can influence and motivate others towards achieving the set goals. Leadership traits and styles are significantly influenced by the leadership theory that dominates an organization's setting ( Alvesson et al., 2017) . At the Rotary Club of Chicago, the path-goal theory is prevalent. The path-goal theory is based on the concept that leaders should influence their employees to effectively executing their roles and responsibilities. The focus of the theory is to have leaders who integrate effectively with other essential stakeholders and followers. The theory emphasizes having a meaningful connection between leaders and followers to ensure that roles and responsibilities of each individual are effectively handled, and they are done in a way that upholds the values of the organization. LEADERSHIP THEORIES 3 path-goal theory influences effectiveness within an organization by aligning the set objectives with goals. An example of path-goal theory in the Rotary Club of Chicago is the use of defined goals ( Alvesson et al., 2017) . In this organization, workers are expected to meet the daily communication goal of seventy calls. Moreover, the leaders in the Rotary Club of Chicago support the decisions and opinions given by the followers. Effect of Power and Influence of Leaders on Followers Leadership influence is a distinctive element of the definition of the concept of leadership. The decisions, strategies, and contributions of leaders in an organization determine the success of an organization ( Ghasabeh et al., 2015) . Influence is the ability an individual has that gives him or her the ability to change the actions, behaviors, and opinions of other individuals. At the Rotary Club of Chicago, there is a positive effect of power and influence. The effects of power in the context of leadership differ significantly based on the type of power. Every leader impacts the employees differently based on the circumstances
