Introduction: Our presentation will be based on transitional justice. Specifically, transitional justice in Africa. We will be concentrating on and discussing two case studies which occurred in Kenya and in Sierra Leone. Transitional Justice Is about societies moving from injustice to justice. - Intended to redress massive human rights abuses and crimes against humanity - Main goals of transitional justice o Transformative justice and long-lasting peace o Liberals and stable future without violence o Establishment of democracy It is a combination of: Judicial interventions - Retributive (punitive, justice seeking) forms Non-judicia interventions - Restorative (non-punitive) forms - Healing, recognition, trust-building
