Abstract Within my essay I will demonstrate how traditional rhetorical activism reflects the diversity of perspectives of rhetoric, rhetorical strategies, and other readings of activism to support my argument. Rhetorical activism can be broken into two parts to be understood, rhetoric stems from acts against hegemony and dominant culture. Rhetoric counter acts hegemony and dominant culture. Activism may be interpreted as different forms used to convey the standpoints messages. Rhetorical activism conveys in different forms: public, private, traditionally, or contemporary methods. All these forms are intertwined in some little way or another. Different forms of rhetoric activism are effective yet there can be limitations. Standpoint plays a huge role in rhetorical activism. One must identify with the different factors of standpoint which are status, role, and identity. First start by identifying how certain roles or status that one holds is seen in dominant culture and how dominant culture may affect ones standpoint. Depending how strong of an issue it may be, one may then choose to then assimilate and reach out to others. Addressing with one on a private level first and bringing that our in the public realm will strengthen ones avocation for an issue. This private to public realm then creates a purpose to advocate for one standpoint. My rhetorical activism approach would encompass private and public forms of activism. In order to achieve success in rhetorical activism is dependent on ones perspective of success. Identifying with others in a selfless way whether they agree with you or not to move forward.
