Wathen HIST 1301 4 th Nov 2018 HCC Reader Assignment This course deals with the history of the United States of America from the English colonization to the close of the Civil War through Reconstruction. By the end of this course we should be able to discuss about the Age of Exploration, explain about the Colonization, identify the causes and effects of American Revolution, explain the origins and impact of Slavery, analyze the formation of the Republic, summarize the effects of Expansion and Innovation, explain Nationalism and Sectionalism, discuss the Civil War and evaluate the effects of Reconstruction. The Articles placed in the reader also deal with these significant parts of American History. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass deals with the Slavery portion of this course. It is a memoir and treatise on abolition of Slavery written via well-known orator and ex-slave, Frederick Douglass. It is held to be the most well-known among the variety of narratives written via former slaves at some stage in the same period. In factual detail, the text describes the occasions of his lifestyles and is one of the most influential pieces of literature to gas the abolitionist motion of the early nineteenth Century in the American History. It has 11 chapters and, in this book, and was published in May 1, 1845 and after its publication
