My name is Eric, and I am currently a high school student from northwest Mexico. I was bornin Culiacan, Sinaloa whereupon my parents brought me to California in hopes of a better life economically. I am an immigrant. It wasn’t until recently that I realized this fact would significantly impact my life in limiting the choices I make and narrowing paths for my future. With my first stop being Pasadena, I lived in a trailer with several other relatives identically hoping to live the american dream. At that point, my life consisted of running around the yard without a care in the world alongside my cousins. A time came however where my immediate family gathered enough to move into our own home a couple cities over. School soon becoming a relevant part of my week. Unknowingly, this is where the immigration struggles began on my part. I was academically set to high expectations but had a difficult time achieving them throughout the progression of elementary school. At the time all I could recount was wondering
