1 -Lux- As I look through these different sources, I find that my interests and skills fall under a different category than that of sociology but is similar. I feel more confused than I was before and yet I’m less confused. I enjoy the aspects of sociology, which is why I chose it as a major, but I’ve also found that I enjoy anthropology as well. My only problem is that I don’t know what to study because I don’t know what I want to do with my life. Looking at my own personality and skills I will attempt to find a direction. The assessment from pages 270-273 in the Joseph book: 1. Personal Values a. My top personal value would be achievement because I feel so pressured to become something that my family will not look down on that finally doing that would relieve a lot of stress. I want to have the intelligence to be a successful independent adult that can support myself. Finding a job that will sustain my needs plus my family’s needs is a must. 2. Work Values a. I feel that a regular 40-hour work week goes well with my personal values. As of this moment I don’t plan on having kids so a work week that goes over 40 hours wouldn’t be a huge problem. Reaching a successful point is beneficial for both myself as well as my employer. 3. Abilities a. Some abilities I have that would look good on a resume include: oral and written communication, ability to work under pressure, time management, adaptability, ability to work well within a team, efficient, good work ethic, accept and learn from criticism, ability to prioritize, attention to detail, and organized. To present

Skills a. Skills and abilities go hand in hand. There is always room for improvement when it comes to fine tuning skills and that we work on them without consciously practicing them. Almost all skills are transferable to a multitude of situations and environments. This ease of transfer creates a constant fine-tuning experience for skills but consciously working on your skills will yield more critical/helpful results. The world is forever changing and adapting your skills to fit the current state is necessary to keep up in the rapidly growing society. 5. Interests a. My initial interest in sociology came from my want to help people but as I got further into sociology, I learned just exactly what it was about. I find that I particularly enjoy the different cultures and studying deviance. Although I’m being led to question my thinking after taking the careeronestop interest assessment because its results came up with jobs that best fit me that were under the anthropology umbrella. I do have an interest in anthropology, but I expected there to be at least a mix of sociology and anthropology. My difficulty is directly
