Hill Fall 2019 BMAL 702 Professor Clifton Thacker Week 4: Discussion Board Forum Transformational, Authentic, & Servant Leadership November 11, 2019 Transformational leadership is one of the current and most popular leadership theories. It gives more attention to the charisma of leaders and how leaders are able to use their charm and charisma to inspire followers to accomplish great things (Northouse, 2019, p.166). Transformational leadership is not only found in traditional settings such as management, but has transcended to other subject areas of concern such as education and healthcare. Its esteem and fame is owed to its importance on the development of followers or employees and intrinsic motivation. The foundation of this approach proposes that employees or followers want to be empowered and inspired to succeed. It is focused on the values, emotions, standards, and ethics of individuals for long-term goal setting and uses an excellent method of inspiration that encourages and motivates people to achieve more than what is expected of them (Northouse, 2019, p.171). Although this type of leadership can be used to achieve the self-centered desires of the leader, an authentic, transformational leader will positively influence their follower’s or employees’ morals and help preserve moral decision-making by the employee or follower.
