Bacteria fast facts: All of the bacteria in our body collectively weighs about 4 pounds. There’s more bacteria in your mouth than there are people in the world. The "smell of rain" is caused by a bacteria called actinomycetes. (explain what is so special about actinomycetes bacteria) Sweat itself is odorless. It's the bacteria on the skin that mingles with it and produces body odor. A clean mouth has between 1,000 and 100,000 bacteria on each tooth. Chocolate has an antibacterial effect on the mouth and protect against tooth decay. Researchers have discovered that bacteria live and thrive in clouds. Very serious Bacterial infections can be treated with special drugs that kill bacteria called antibiotics. If a population misuses antibiotics by using them too often, or for diseases like colds and flu that are caused by viruses, antibiotics stop working. The bacteria evolve into what is know as antibiotic resistant forms. MRSA (Multiple-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) is one strain that has become extremely dangerous because it has evolved to survive almost all antibiotics. Bacteria are very resilient forms of life they can live almost everywhere on earth from near boiling water, to the deepest ocean, inside of rock and even in ice. Some bacteria can even live on radioactive waste. They were here before we were and will probably be here after we are gone because they are just that tough. Your body is full of bacteria, there are actually more bacteria cells in your body than there are human cells. There are more bacteria in your intestine then there are people on earth. Don;t work they are usually friendly and actually help us in lots of ways. What are actinomycetes: They are all Gram-positive. Actinomyces are facultatively anaerobic (except A. meyeri, a strict anaerobe). All species grow best under anaerobic conditions (Grows best without oxygen ) . Actinomyces species do not form endospores, and, while individual bacteria are rod-shaped, Actinomyces colonies form fungus-like branched networks of hyphae. Actinomyces are known for causing disease in humans, and for the important role they play in soil ecology. They produce a number of enzymes that help degrade organic plant material. As such, their presence is important in the formation of compost.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
