Luna Vue English 2150-51 Professor Nancy Shih-Knodel Analysis of Langston Hughes October 24th, 2019 In Langston Hughes, Ballad of the Landlord, there was only one specific type of speakers, which are the tenants. Although he was the only one type speaker, they spoke in unison as if they have all the same problem. With the tenants speaking, the poem only showed one side of the story ( one point of view ) but it was shown very well and well enough to even show how the landlord is, as in by his character. Hugh’s choice of not giving ALL his words gives the reader more of their own interpetation of the poem. By that, they can visualise the story to the way they think but still have some grounding from the words he does use. The intensity of the poem is how the landlord treats the tenents by with using explanation marks to show that they are mad on how the landlord treats them. “Um-huh! You talking high and mighty” ( Hughes 17 ).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
