EMAIL HARASSMENT 2 It is an internal investigator of a software development company known as Tisdale Business Software Corporation. The company is known for providing a wide variety of e- commerce software; cloud computing and hosting services, hardware, and computing devices such as laptops and tablets. As a software-based company, Information Technology is a critical component. As an internal investigator, we have been requested by the Human Resource (HR) Department to investigate the accusations about accusations that one of the employees has been harassing another employee over Internet-based Yahoo! Email and the corporate Exchange E- mail system. Harassment does not entail physical harassment. It also entails emotional and psychological harassment done in different forms. With the advancement in technology, harassment over the internet has become a common issue not only in day-to-day living but also in the corporate world. For instances, cases of sending unsolicited, threatening, obnoxious, and sexually explicit messages via emails and social networks have increased in the workplaces. All these are forms of harassment (Singh, 2015). Anything sent by email containing messages that cannot be said in person is considered harassment. It is good to know that what is consider to be humorous might be interpreted as frightening or even offensive and therefore, it essential to examine the kind of messages sent via email or any other means of communication. Moreover, email harassment not only violates ethical usage of one’s computer account but also provokes the victims who might end up pressing criminal charges against a person or the organization. Hence, accusations associated with email harassment in an organization need to be scrutinized, followed by taking of the relevant cause of action.
