Katie Ellis 2/18/14 Pd.7 While many races of speed skating have occurred during these recent Olympics, the top United States speed skaters have not hit their best times or a medal, rising the controversy, are the new ‘super suits’ really that super? Shani Davis, an American speed skater and four-time medalist, ranked 11th in 1,500 meters and 8th in the 1,000 meter race, both times skating under expectations and blaming his failure to reach the podium on the new Under Armor suit; saying that no one was used to it and therefore American skaters were wasting their energy being nervous about it. Then Heather Richardson finished 7th in the women's 1,000 meters again leaving the United States with no medal and under expected performance; Americans blame the suit to let heat leave the body and go out the suit, creating more air drag and friction with the skater’s surroundings. In the process of the body heat from the skier leaving the suit, that messes with the aerodynamics of the speed skater and slowing down his/her performance,
