Status, authority and titles played an important role in the standards of how one was measured to be great.2.What was the relative status of slaves and children to the "great" of the world?Slaves and children were identified as the lowest members of society. However, the Lord demonstrates how one should be welcoming to children. Greatness comes within individuals who do not see themselves as higher than others in society. Greatness comes with the servitude we present to others.3.What does it mean to "welcome" someone? In Mark 9:36-37 it is described how, “whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me.”
