Boyle is a satirical tragedy that examines the exploitation andhardships that migrant workers face in The United States by juxtaposing their lives with those of an upper middle-class gated community and its residents. Boyle utilizes changing viewpoints from chapter to chapter to both parallel and contrast the situations that people of different classes face. In addition, he utilizes motif and recurring themes to represent larger concepts in order to provide insight into the human condition, capitalizing on the emotional, physical, and conceptual barriers humans create by dividing into factions and class groups. In relating the concept of metaphorical to real life situations, such as poverty and wealth, Boyle allows readers to more clearly see how people separate themselves and how the barriers mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.T.C.
