Vanessa Rosas Rosas 1 Mrs.Calzada English 10 Honors 27 July 2019 The Tortilla Curtain Conflict is an aspect in the literature that makes stories exciting and makes the reader explore more about the book. Conflict is disagreement among individuals or groups characterized by hostility and antagonism; opposing forces usually drive it from one party to another. Conflict is an essential element in literature, and it is used to drive forward a story and compel the reader to read more. A narrative cannot progress without a conflict; most of the stories have a feature of a conflict where characters must be involved problems with other characters before they overcome them. The Tortilla Curtain by Boyle utilizes this element to insight the audience into the character's motivation and actions; it creates tension and suspense throughout the story. This paper, therefore, discusses the central conflict in the Tortilla Curtain and how it is resolved.
