Kevin Albano February 24, 2008 Stormy Weather Generally an individual’s identity is influenced by his or her belonging  to a group or culture, and the subsequent surrounding societal forces. The  1940's film Stormy Weather demonstrates a time period where culture  greatly affects the society and stereotypical standards held by cinema.  African Americans were rarely seen on film playing main characters but  merely depicted as stereotypical roles, generally falling into the categories of  either Toms, coons, mulattos, mammies, or bucks. The positives include the  list of legendary performers, all at their peak with the exception of an elderly  Bill Robinson, the excellent black and white photography and that great Fox  sound. The negatives include the generous display of stereotypes, the poor  screenplay, unimaginative direction and non-existent acting in which  everyone "smiles" their role.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
