Guelzo writes about Abraham Lincoln’s life that have not been publicized even though he is considered among the five American elites that are known globally, alongside him are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Guelzo’s book Lincoln: A Very Short Introductionhas seven chapters and each one is focused on one of Lincoln’s beliefs that caused controversy and problems during the nineteenth century for the United States and for Lincoln. The topics are: equality, advancement in society, the law, liberty, debates and their importance, slavery, and lastly the country could be reunited as one. Guelzo explains how Lincoln was a very private man even as the whole world was watching.
