Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi Programme Name: MBA (IB) 2019-21 Course: Business Research Methods Course Co-ordinator: Dr. Sanjay Rastogi Email: [email protected] Term: II Credits: 3 Course Introduction The objective of the Business Research Methods course is to develop in a participant the approach, skills and the attitudes required to specify, evaluate and utilize business information for taking sound business decisions. The course is not intended to turn a participant into a Business Researcher but to create enough of familiarity with the Business Research procedures to enable one to seek, understand, evaluate, and use research based information. Course Objectives The course would attempt to help a participant in: Translating business decision problems into business research problem. Understanding the various steps involved in a typical business research project. i. Defining research problem when faced with a decision situation and specifying information needed; ii. Evaluating the research design for the decision situation: iii. Evaluating and interpreting the ‘already available’ and the ‘new information’ obtained; and iv. Utilizing the information for making business decisions Becoming familiar with the problems generally associated with the conduct of Business Research. Programme Learning Goals covered through this Course LG 2: Innovative Thinking with Critical Analysis Be able to apply appropriate theories, models and tools to critically analyse the problems/issues in international business situations.

Be able to develop innovative approaches towards solving of given problems/issues in international business situations. Pedagogy The course would have regular sessions, case presentation and analysis as well as a research project report to achieve the above objectives. Each student is required to give a presentation on a case /article/. Students are expected to read the topics in advance so as to participate in discussion during and at the end of the session. Active participation is the key to learning.
