Endeyah Donnell AP Language and Composition 5 Mrs. Dean & Mrs. Ward 18 March 2019 The Great Gatsby In the book, The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald there are many characters. Each one has a unique personality which developed significantly throughout the book. In chapter seven a portion of the main characters become their most vulnerable selves, specifically Tom, Gatsby and Daisy. They really show their true colors which sums up how their lives are most likely to turn out. Chapter seven is the most influential chapter because he portrays the author's purpose. In chapter seven Gatsby implies that Daisy is a gold digger. He suggests this when he says Daisy’s voice is “full of money” (pg.120). Gatsby means that Daisy is apart of East Egg, where the people there have never known anything else but money. In chapter one Nick’s description of East Egg was nothing less than high class, “white palaces of fashionable East Egg” (pg.5). There is a comparison of “old money” to “new money”.
