Post lab report 5 Iodometric, Volumetric Determination of Sodium Thiosulfate Introduction: Titration is a very common way to find the molecular concentration of something using the known concentration through the transfer of mL of the known concentration to the unknown concentration and see the end point. After seeing the end point, we can see the relation of the unknown number of moles to the known number of moles and we can make the calculations to find it. We would be using sodium thiosulfate and potassium iodate. By knowing the number of moles of potassium iodate that is titrated, and the volume of the sodium thiosulfate solution used, you can determine the concentration of the sodium thiosulfate solution. I O 3 + 5 I + 6 H → 3 I 2 + 3 H 2 O ¿ + S 4 O 2 ¿ 2 I ¿ I 2 + 2 S 2 O 3 ¿ Procedure and materials: 1. Rub 1g of soluble starch and 15mL of water into a paste. Dilute up to 500mL of water with boiling water 2. Preparing the sodium thiosulfate solution: boil 1L of DI water for 10 mins and cool to RT. The water is boiled. Weight 25g of sodium thiosulfate and dissolve it in water that is cool. Weight out a 0.1g of Na2CO3 and add thiosulfate solution. Stir until the solid
