Intro to Electricity 10/25/19 Electricity = movement of electrons Invisible force that provides light, heat, sound, motion… Electrons = negatively charged particles Electron orbitals = orbits in which electrons move around the nucleus of an atom Valence electrons = the outermost ring of electrons in an atom Conductors Insulator Electrons flow easily between atoms electrons flow harder between atoms 1-3 valence electrons in outer orbit 5-8 valence electrons Ex: silver, copper, gold, aluminum Ex: Electrical circuit = a system of conductors and components forming a complete path for current to travel The flow of electric charge is measured on amps The force (pressure) The opposition of current flow is measured in ohms Voltage Volts Current Amps Resistance Ohms V=IR I=V/R R=V/I Circuit configuration = components in a circuit can be connected in one of two ways

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
