In 2017 over 70,000 people died from drug overdoses, and approximately 68% of the deaths involved prescription opioids (CDC’s Efforts to End the Opioid Crisis).B.Relevance Statement:This country needs an opioid intervention, and it needs to start with the DEA. The United States DEA is the government agency that enforces the controlled laws and regulations of the United States.C.Credibility Statement:Working in a pharmacy for over 10 years, I have witnessed first-hand how severe this crisis has become, and the fast rate that it’s growing at.
