INTERRACIAL ADOPTION AND SEXISM 2Transracial Adoption and SexismTransracial adoption dates back to World War II when intercountry adoption was a response by North American humanitarian towards the destruction of Europe in the Second World War, which left thousands of children orphaned. Child adoption does not only involve the acceptance of a child in the family but involves the connection of the child’s life, the birth family, and the adoptive family. Adoption procedure may raise provocative matters based on cultural beliefs, biases, stereotypes, or different priorities. Many of the matters may happen if an adoption takes in the child exchange of a child with a different racial background. This paper gives a brief history of interracial adoption.Pros and cons of interracial adoptionProsCreation of a racially diverse home surrounding with movies, artwork, music, and books expressive of the race of the child, adoptive families assist in instilling an optimistic identity for the kid and developing racial responsiveness for the family as a whole.Interracial adoptive families have an opportunity to broaden their social network through the connection with individuals with the same race as the child through professional relationshipsand friendships (Fong et al., 2019). Interracially adopted children benefit from cultural activities and festivals where they blend in and give the adoptive family the involvement of being a perceptible minority.Cons

INTERRACIAL ADOPTION AND SEXISM 3Everything is outwardly focused in an interracial adoptive family. Thus family members should come to terms with being noticeable in society.Traditional sexism examples seem accurate for the information is based on what used to happen in the past. For example, countries where the forced marriage was practiced, women were profoundly affected in that a man chose whom he wants to marry. On the other hand, the examples of modern sexism seem accurate as women have been seen as powerful and equal to men nowadays. For example, women have the right to vote, unlike olden days in London, could not vote as well as the inclusion of women in the presidential election in the USA (Simas & Bumgardner, 2017).
