IDENTIFYING COGNITIVE STYLES 2 Identifying Cognitive Styles Personality and individual differences are necessary terms to better understand employees in the workplace. Personality can be defined as a relatively stable set of characteristics that influence an individual’s behavior, while individual differences are the factors that differentiate one employee from another through factor’s such as: abilities, skills, perceptions, personalities, attitudes, values, and ethics (Nelson and Quick, 2015). Managers can assess and define these individual variances through a series of projective tests, behavioral measures, and self-report questionnaires (Nelson and Quick, 2015). This is important information for a supervisor to understand because they cannot manage all employees exactly the same; managers need to account for these individual differences in order to effectively communicate with their staff members. To better understand how to identify cognitive styles, I will be considering the Case Study activity from Lesson 2; focusing on Bill and Blake’s response to a presented crisis.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
