2 According to (pewresearch.org) "the U.S property crime rate, today is far below its perk level. FBI data shows that the rate fell by 54% between 1993 and 2018, while BJS reports a decline of 69% during that span. Property crime includes offenses such as burglary, theft, and motor vehicle theft, and it is generally far more common than violent crimes." Within my paper, I will provide information on how current trends and crime rates affect social and environmental factors, and how they contribute and influence crime rates. Social and Environmental factors No one actually knows what influences others to commit crimes. However, there could be many influences behind the crimes that are being committed by others. Some crime factors could include mental health, poverty, and low job availability. According to (Legal Beagle) "biological factors are often the starting point for understanding criminal behavior; the idea is that some people are psychologically predisposed to committing a crime. Even if that were true, it does not explain why crime rate varies so markedly in different cities, counties, and states." As time went on, it seems that poverty and crime go hand and hand with one another. Poverty
