Thesis Statement: William Golding in Lord of the Flies uses symbolism to support the theme of good versus evil. Body First Main Point: The signal fire was an opportunity for the boys to be rescued. I.The key moment in the rising action is when Jack and his hunters let the fire die out, ruining an opportunity to be rescued. II.Ralph’s priorities are solely directed to build huts and keep the signal fire going. III.The first fire the boys build to attract rescuers roars out of control and one of the younger boys is accidentally burned to death (Slayton 93). Second Main Point: The rivalry between Ralph and Jack can be expressed through their hateful actions towards each other.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
