A Critique on “The Korean Wave: The Seoul of Asia” Sue Jin Lee, who was a Strategic Communications Major in Elon University, published a journal article back in 2011, which is entitled, “The Korean Wave: The Seoul of Asia”. This journal article sought to address how the Korean culture has spread all over the world and how it gained its sudden popularity. The research also focused on the quick and unexpected recognition of South Korea, which had spread all over the world, greatly affected Korea’s overall reputation as a country in a positive way, and left an indelible mark all throughout Asia. The research focused on analyzing its neighboring countries, such as China and Japan, which have been very adaptive in terms of the cultural influence of Korea. Moreover, the research also explored how national identity affects Korea’s framing process in relation to the media and the public. The research follows the proper method of writing an objective and informative academic text however, the paper made use of outdated sources and excessive direct quotations. This journal article aimed to know what made South Korea’s sudden popularity and what are the effects of the rising popularity of Korea to its own country. In the previous years, the Korean culture has not appealed globally however, due to different factors and influence, Korea gradually gained its popularity and development all around the world. Aside from the cultural influence, other countries have also adapted influence from Korea’s pop culture. As a result, the Korean wave left a remarkable impact in the countries all around the world. The study included a critical analysis of how the Korean wave has affected the media and through this, the author has gathered related literature, information, and scholarly studies from different credible newspapers that have provided a foundation for the whole paper. The article revealed the results through the use of news frames to scrutinize and validate the gathered information. Furthermore, the researcher concluded that the
