Les Misérables: Journal EntriesCossette:Setting:“Jean Valjean made no changes in the furniture described on the first day, excepting that the caused a solid door to be put upin place of the glass door of Cosette’s little bedchamber. He stillwore his yellow coat, black pantaloons, and his old hat.” (Page.126) Setting is changes of it reflect changes in the primary characters. But in this quote is the lack of changes in the setting what made me like this quote. Because he like everything to stay the same he’s has been through so much change himself that he wants everything to stay thesame now. As Jean Valjean was passing that way, unaccompanied by Cosette, he noticed the beggar sitting in his usual place, under the street which had just been lighted.” (Page.127)This quote represents how the change of setting affects Jean Valjean. By someone siting where he used to sit everyday kind of surprised him because he was used to constantly sitting there. But I was a little confused if he actually saw a person or if he was just hallucinating. Character:Jean Valjean bent down and kissed the child’s hand. Nine moths before, he had kissed the hand of the mother, who also had just fallen asleep.” (page.122)Jean Valjean is in my opinion a dynamic character because he has been through so much in his life and has done so much good. In this quote you can see how he is agood person you can see all the ways he had changed. He
