What effect does consumption have on the environment? Excessive consumption causes depletion of the natural resources on our environment while less consumption preserves our environment. Excessive consumption leads to depletion of vital resources that plays a major role of preserving our environment such as trees hence causing desertification and even global warming. Less consumption on the other hand saves our environment from quick depletion of vital resources that helps in preserving our environment.
