Ashley Pixley Word Count: 643 Prompt: Describe a topic, idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time. Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learn more? Nose in a Book Thick, dusty pages. Archaic, musky scent. Aged, faded black ink. Words trapped in paper prisons. Visions of warriors, dragons, witches, and wands. I feel the smooth, glass vials of poison for the faux princess. I hear the wind whipping through my hair as I run from the Cornucopia and its lethal tributes. I taste the chocolate frogs as I ride towards Hogwarts. I see the insomniacs hunting sleepers on the streets through the eyes of an owl. I smell the metallic tang from Basil’s bloody, mutilated corpse. I’m on the orphan train taking me away from New York. I’m the boy from Napoli with new, leather shoes. I’m the soldier caught in a tree preparing to drop. I’m running away from the fire with a stolen book clutched to my bosom.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
