EG 2003 Professor Guida All-Time Poetry Slam This assignment invites students to master poems by some of the English language’s greatest poets living and dead. Here’s how it works. Each team will choose a single poet or pair of poets whose work they would like to represent in the slam. Group members will post their individual choices to their group’s discussion board. All members of the group can should reply to one another’s posts, so that the group debates their choices on line. Teams will then meet on Thursday, Thursday, October 10 th , to decide on poets to represent and to begin choosing poems. Team members will make final decisions on their poems by Thursday, October 17 th . (Each person chooses one poem to memorize and perform)

Unformatted text preview: On Thursday, November 7 th , each member of a team will report his or her progress in memorizing and performing his or her poem. On Thursday, November 21 st , teams will rehearse their poems in class. (Teams might also meet outside of class, to rehearse their poems at other times.) On Thursday, December 12 th and Thursday, December 19 th , teams will gather during our class period, and will perform their poets’ poems as part of a competitive all-time poetry slam. Students will be graded on their level of preparation (memorization) as well as their actual performance.
