This paper examines the significant influences of tourist purchasing decisions. The motivation of the tourist, how social media as a platform makes a difference in the choice of the traveler family are the ones so explained in the essay.Consumer Behavior (CB) mainly revolves around certain decisions, ideas, experiences, or activities that satisfy the consumer needs and wants (Solomon,1996 as cited in (Cohen, Prayag, and Moital, 2013). It is regarding the activities that are straightforwardly associated with obtaining, consuming, and disposing of products and services, including the decision choice processes that forego and accompany these actions. (Engel, Blackwell, & Miniard, 1995, p. 4 as cited in (Cohen, Prayag, and Moital, 2013).The decisions made by a tourism consumer about where to travel, whether to visit, what to do, when to visit, how long to stay, and how much to spend are the most basic decisions made by them. (Nuraeni, Arru andNovani, 2015). Moreover, consumer decision making is discovering the level of consumer dedication towards purchasing a product or service. The conventional model of the consumer decision-making process so developed by Kotler and Keller in their marketing management book which the “Five -stage model of the consumer buying process” that includes five steps that buyer goes through while purchasing or availing a product or service. The steps are ‘need recognition, information search, alternative evaluation, purchase decision, and post-purchase.’ (Kotler & Keller (2012) as citedin (Stankevich, 2017).The model does help the destination marketers to understand consumer behavior and then how to influence them in favor to purchase their products or services. Every individual who makes various purchase decisions in their routine life; plays the role of a consumer. The key is to understand what are the factors or influences that affect these decisions while acquiring the product or services. As per George(2004) and March and Woodside (2005) the most significant psychological influence of travel behavior can be considered as the travel motivations (Vuuren and Slabbert, 2012).M motivation which refers to a situation of need that urges an individual towards a specific type of actions that are seen as to bring satisfaction (Moutinho 1993, p.16; Schiffman et al. 2011, p.40 as Griffiths, 2013) . It drives an individual to work in a way in which they make decisions that would help them satisfy their needs. (Schiffman et al. 2011, p.453 as cited in Griffiths, 2013) Maslow’s hierarchy of needs is most commonly used to explain motivation. Maslow has put the needs of an individual in the form of hierarchical pyramid that has five levels which starts with the Psychological needs which are the basic needs like water, Safety is where there is a safe and secure environment, Social which is the feeling of being wanted and belonging, Esteem that is the self-respect and self-actualization where targets are fulfilled.
