Taylor King Practicum Kent Sanders 19 November 2019 PRACTICUM Kolb Model Essay INTRODUCTION While my practicum for Saint Louis Christian College requirement was spent at Price’s Branch Christian Church in High Hill, MO I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and make an impression on the ministry world. I learned to take the lead and work on my own sermons, vocalization of prayer, worship planning, budget planning, children’s church, and I learned what goes on in counseling sessions for pastors. My experience overall has prepared me for whatever path I may choose in my occupational pursuit after I graduate from Saint Louis Christian College. Because I had previously helped teach my own young girls’ group on Wednesday nights, I thought that I would be more confident stepping into shadowing the ministry higher up. I unfortunately received a reality check the first time that I had to prepare my own sermon as an outline for the Field Supervisor to use. After spending serval months interning the works of my father, the Field Supervisor, in his works, I feel as if I have gained a sense of new knowledge and

confidence for the ministry. In this reflective essay on my practicum experience, I will high light the things that I have found most helpful and knowledgeable to me. The difference that I see in my confidence from when I first decided to pursue Christian ministry to now, has been alarming. I had always thought that what I had initially known about the gospel, and God was plenty enough to be a Christian. Each course that I have taken in pursuit to my bachelor’s degree has helped me in one way or another to gain knowledge in not only my walk with faith, but my desired degree. KOLB’S MODEL: The First Step Concrete Experience: I realized very quickly that I did not indeed depict each Scripture the way I thought it was supposed to be interpreted. When Scriptures are broken down and cut into shorter pieces than the whole chapter, the meaning can actually be completely misinterpreted. It
