Lab Report #2. Using Gravitational Force as a Measurement Tool Directions: This is a virtual lab which will be completed through the Wiley Plus link below. If you have NOT already registered in Wiley Plus, please be sure to do so now. You can find easy instructions in the "Start Here" module :) Go to: Select the virtual lab called: Using Gravitational Force as a Measurement Tool The purpose of this lab is to: Collect and record accurate and clear scientific data about the effects of gravitational force. Analyze scientific data by using, interpreting and comparing numbers about the effects of gravitational force on components in a mixture. Explain gravitational force in relation to its effects on the acceleration of molecules. Explain how gravitational force can be used to separate substances. Pre-Lab Questions: Select the “Go To” drop down menu and use the “Lab Overview” section to answer the following pre-lab questions. 1. What is a centrifuge? 2. How is gravitational force calculated for a centrifuge? 3. Different components of a mixture travel based on several factors, list those factors here. Describe how far the following components might travel: a. Gravel- b. Sand- c. Silt- d. Clay- 4. What would scientists adjust while using the centrifuge, in order to better purify a sample?

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

Kiran Temple University Fox School of Business ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

Dana University of Pennsylvania ‘17, Course Hero Intern

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
