Ryan Debreceni Unit 6 Biology Project Section A 1. Blending theory is when the offspring between two parents has a DNA of both the parents not just one. He questioned this because when a short stem plant and a long stem plant combined made a long stem plant he began to think he was wrong. 2. The 7 characteristics that mendel investigated in pea plants were pod form and color, placement of pods and flowers on stems, stem length, flower color, color and seed form 3. Mendel controlled pollination by removing the anthers and then would pollinate the pea plants by hand. 4. Mendel would only experiment with one characteristic at a time on the pea plant. 5. Two Alleles segregate from each other in the formation of gametes then one gamete carries one Alleles and the other carries the other Alleles. The second law is when genes would independently sort themselves in the formation of gametes. 6. Probability is the likeness of something happening. So in a coin toss the probability of a coin landing on heads or tails would be 50/50. 7. A punnett square is a square divided into 4’s to predict a certain genotype of certain genes. 8. Gamete formation is like a coin toss because when the alleles segregate say Aa in the punnett square it could either get A or a depending on what happens. To determine a phenotype or a genotype you must know which allele is dominant and which allele is recessive.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
